Evaluate the effectiveness of experimental anti-infectives treatments
This technology uses in vivo imaging technologies to monitor the implementation of a bacterial infection, its evolution and its resolution by treatment (antibiotic or alternative approach). After modifying a pathogenic bacterium to make it bioluminescent, it is used in a preclinical model (urinary tract infection, pneumonia, septicaemia, skin infection, surgical site infection, biofilm...). This model is then adapted to the therapeutic solution to be evaluated (small molecule, antibiotic, host-oriented therapy, immunomodulator, phage, phytotherapy...). A biodistribution or pharmacokinetic study may precede the evaluation of the efficacy of the treatment. Finally, an optimization of the therapeutic regimen can complete the study, particularly in the case of combinations.
