Cell culture Primary Primary cancer cells
Primary cancer cells are used in research. Their major advantage is that they are closer to in vivo conditions than immortalized or cancerous cell lines. This is due to the adaptation of the lines to the culture conditions. On the other hand, primary cancerous cultures do not have time to adapt to in vitro conditions and are therefore a physiologically more relevant model for the study of cellular behavior.
