Human tumor samples sourcing: fresh, frozen, FFPE

Tumor samples are used in oncology for drug development as well as clinical diagnostics assay development. Tumor samples are found in a variety of formats: as human tumor resections are typically sent to the hospital pathologists, tumors are commonly preserved in paraffin and therefore large collections of FFPE cancer samples exist. However, it may become difficult to get matching tissues and blood or biofluids, often useful in immuno-oncology or diagnostics.

This is why Labtoo developed a tailor-made service to support Labs, Biotechs, Medtech, and Pharma companies in their procurement of samples.

Labtoo can be mandated in a fully customized mission to look for any type of cancer biospecimens from human like fresh tissues, Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE tissues), or frozen tissuesAs we do not use a catalog solution, our team will identify samples already in sample biobanks or collections, if possible, and compatible with the requirements of the project. A prospective clinical collection can also be started when necessary.

Our service identifies sample sources able to prepare and transfer a sample collection for any given project. Just ask our team to discuss your project!

Type of Collections

  • Retrospective: we can look into existing biobank collections
  • Prospective: we can set up clinical collection specific for a given project

Our team will handle your tumor sample procurement from the beginning to the end

Perform a feasibility study by looking for existing samples already in collections & ready to be transferred

Set up a clinical biological collection and preparing contracts with sources

Assist the material transfer from the source to the lab, including treatments, QA or shipping, as needed

Typical deliverables

  • Feasibility of availability of samples or of clinical collection
  • Regulatory aspects (transfer authorizations, export authorizations, ethics committee agreement)
  • Contracting
  • Samples shipment in appropriate conditions
  • Clinical data
  • Matching tissues or samples (like Plasma or serum) as specified in the request
  • Other services (i.e. Nucleic acid extraction, quality control)
  • Clinical patient information as required
