The induced pluripotent stem cell lines (IPS or IPSC) are stem lines generated from already differentiated adult cells: they can multiply indefinitely, and be redifferentiated into any cell type of the human body.
The generation of IPSC begins with a culture phase of the donor cells, which are then epigenetically reprogrammed by the forced expression of pluripotency genes.
The vectors used for the introduction of the pluripotency genesmay be of viral type (with a genetic modification of the donor cell), or of episomal, mRNA or Sendai type (in this case, the original cell is not genetically modified).
IPSCsare then selected and amplified by different methods.
