Site-specific natural isotope fractionation NMR is a powerful method to verify the authenticity of a liquid or an aromatic compound.
This method relies on the identification of an isotopic fingerprint (for instance based on 2H/1H or 13C/12C ratio) for a target molecule (for instance, ethanol). This fingerprint will depend on the origin of the molecule.
