Service description

  • Mass Spectrometry is an analytical chemistry technique that allows the quantification of proteins in a sample.
  • Quantification can be absolute, using internal isotopic standards for targeted analyses only, or relative, with isotopic labelling such as SILAC, TMT or iTRAQ, or without labelling using the label-free technique.
  • The services currently available offer relative quantification with label-free or labelled techniques. The performances of these two types of methods are equivalent.
  • The SILAC approach is more robust because it limits experimental variability. It should be noted that it applies to cultured cells only and requires a large number of passages to ensure a high rate of isotope incorporation into proteins.
